Taschowsky’s work operates within the dynamic tension between appropriation and transformation. Drawing on strategies of Pop Art and the ruptures of Dadaist visual logic, he engages with a collective visual memory: fragments from comics, advertising, and media iconography that he overlays, shifts, and recodes. Unlike classical Pop Art, however, his focus is not on surface alone, but on painting itself—its materiality, its resistance, and its capacity to actively generate meaning.

For his upcoming solo exhibition, Maximilian Verhas presents new rolling-form sculptures that oscillate between material presence and reflection, between physical body and visual illusion. At times they appear as endlessly intertwined bands in matte or high-gloss bronze; at others, they take on organic contours or sharp, architectural precision.

The highly polished stainless-steel works, in particular, challenge clear perception: rather than emphasizing weight, mass, and volume, they capture and mirror their surroundings—reversed and subtly distorted by their curved forms. The viewer encounters less the object itself than a reflection of the surrounding space, including their own presence within it. As with a mirror, the material surface seems to dissolve, giving way to an almost immaterial, spherical experience. In this dynamic interplay of form, space, and reflection, Verhas’ elegant sculptures invite the eye to wander—and to lose itself in their sense of infinity.

Galerie Friedmann-Hahn presents works by Jub Mönster: Using ballpoint pen, the artist creates intricate urban scenes of Paris, cinematic snapshots, and reinterpretations of iconic artworks from art history. The exhibition is complemented by his atmospheric oil paintings. Mönster’s work combines precise draftsmanship with cinematic poetry – striking and unmistakable. His motifs evoke film scenes from bygone times, infused with subtle melancholy and lightness.

Galerie Friedmann-Hahn presents new works by Spanish artist Laura Nieto (*1978). In Paisajes Fantásticos, she creates dreamlike landscapes between nature and architecture. Using vibrant colors, gold leaf, and skies tinted in red or pink, she composes scenes of surreal beauty – fantastic, otherworldly, and poetic. The boundaries between reality and imagination begin to dissolve in her paintings – as if stepping into another world.

Galerie Friedmann-Hahn is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a comprehensive solo exhibition of the internationally renowned painter Nikolai Makarov.

His paintings are created using old master techniques, enhanced by delicate sfumato glazes and finely applied color pigments via airbrush. Makarov’s works are characterized by a meditative depth and poetic restraint. His images oscillate between darkness and light, inviting the viewer to pause and engage in inner reflection.

In his large-format works, the New York painter Donald Vaccino juxtaposes geometric blocks of color with figurative elements that describe his personal world - carried by two-dimensional coloring and tense lines.
