"(...) I hope the birds return. I hope for the return of the seasons. I hope for summer. I hope for the old people in the city. I hope for a conversation. I hope for the city as the greatest work of art of our civilization. I hope for a day and a night. I hope for looking beyond the rim of the plate and further still. A hoping for hopeful days. A moment of: (EPILOGUE) LINGER A WHILE. Just a little longer. Until I have strength again. Until I can see again, the beauty of this city, and of the people and animals. And the sky, which ceaselessly crashes down upon us and bursts at the edges, only to stretch itself over us once more. And I wish for myself: a morning and an evening. And a time for us. LOVE in the evening and love in the morning. Longingly, I think of love in the morning. Was it not, by far, more beautiful than love in the evening?( ...)"

Profile

The Galerie Gegen & Lücke represents emerging artists in Berlin. Founded in 2024, it continuously shows solo and group exhibitions in its exhibition space at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz in Berlin-Mitte. With a focus on artistic positions in painting and sculpture, the gallery emphasizes the traditional media of fine art. As part of Culterim, the gallery stands for approachable and qualitative exhibitions in the commercial art scene.

As an active unit in the overall Culterim enterprise, the gallery is part of the Initiative for Art and Culture. By representing its artists on the art market, the gallery builds a bridge to the commercial sector. All of the gallery's profits flow back to the represented artists on the one hand and to Culterim's other units on the other. In this way, the gallery partially finances affordable studios, exhibition spaces and residencies for the entire cultural landscape.

Upcoming

13.03. – 24.04. "The Diver's Dream of Flying". Kevin Lüdicke (solo exhibition). Kevin Lüdicke. Painting, Work on Paper, Drawing, Installation.

Kevin Lüdicke's artistic practice moves between painting and sculptural works.

His paintings open up pictorial spaces between reality and invention as well as order and dissolution.

In spatial compositions, precise figurative structures meet abstract elements and create the narration of real circumstances in a surreal world. By combining illustrative and painterly work, Kevin Lüdicke invents unexpectedly familiar atmospheres and allows situations and experiences to overlap.

In his sculptural works, he deals with fountains and water fountains. These vivid installations interrupt the familiar and invite us to experience them together. As poetic disruptions, places of encounter are created and technical complexity is shown in effortless appearance.

30.04. – 06.06. "Ätschi Bätsch". Björn Heyn (solo exhibition). Björn Heyn. Painting, Work on Paper, Drawing, Sculpture, Installation
