The exhibition AURA at galerie probst in collaboration with ARTCO Gallery Berlin aims to bring Walter Benjamin's Essay The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction into a contemporary context through three different artistic positions, of photography, textile works and performance. The exhibition examines the field of tension between art, that cannot be reproduced and art, that does not exist without its mechanical reproduction. 

François du Plessis' book objects rarely look like books. They look like huge slices of a tree trunk. They look like colorful swirls of paint or vertically arranged landscape brochures. And they look like small insects running vertically up the wall. No, his book objects do not look like alienated books. And yet they are book objects. Because they are made of what books are made of: many layers of printed pages, velvety linen covers or glossy soft covers, and colorful ribbon markers. The exhibition “Luma” presents the entire spectrum of interdisciplinarity of the artist Stefan Reiss for the first time. The visualization of his basic artistic theme – non-linear transformation – was the focus of the curation of the galerie probst. In “Luma” the artist’s digital drawings (also NFTs) meet his analog paintings, sculptures and one of his light installations. These media-different works of art that were created this year are in a transformative exchange and form the resultingen creative commonality, a symbol of his unmistakable oeuvre.
