When it was founded in 1990, the Marianne Werefkin Prize was the first art prize in Germany to be dedicated exclusively to women artists. It was established by the Association of Berlin Women Artists in 1867 and is enshrined in the VdBK1867 statutes. The association thus followed its tradition of honoring the outstanding work of female artists for other female artists. The award winner will be named at the opening of the exhibition with 5 other nominees on November 25.

The UdK Berlin Art Award has been awarded annually since 2023 in the Fine Arts and Art and Media programs at the Berlin University of the Arts. Under the chairmanship of the President, a jury composed of renowned figures from Berlin’s art and cultural scene presents the award to four master students of a graduating class. The four award winners for 2025 are: Louisa Boeszoermeny, Miriam Döring, Clemens Schöll, and Daria Syvakos. The group exhibition will open on November 21, 2025, and will be on view from November 22, 2025, to February 15, 2026, at the Kommunale Galerie Berlin.

In november, the Cultural Department of the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf District will host the 9th edition of its biennial art fair, 3 TAGE KUNST. At the Kommunale Galerie Berlin, artists from the district will present a wide range of works in painting, photography, graphic art, and sculpture. The fair offers an opportunity to explore the diverse forms of visual art in direct contact with the artists and, if interested, to purchase works.

At the corner of Prinzregenten / Waghäuseler Straße, there is a plot of land in Berlin’s history that has never been developed, where allotment gardens were cultivated and maintained for 89 years. The tenants were given notice to vacate their gardens by November 30, 2023, despite various protests, as the land is to be cleared for a construction project by the state-owned property company Berlinovo. The exhibition portrays the different gardens, tells the story of the 2359 square meter plot, and the history of its immediate surroundings.

In 2024, the project group 'KlimaInsel Wilmersdorf' took up the resistance of the gardens against the final destruction of this inner-city cooling habitat. They transformed the gardens into a community garden as part of a temporary use and are fighting for more climate-friendly urban development. The rebellious gardens became a meeting point for the engaged neighborhood. Since the summer of 2023, Lorenz Kienzle, originally a photographic documentarian of garden culture, has also become an activist for KlimaInsel. The exhibition title derives from the French philosopher and gardener Gilles Clément.

The group exhibition "Fragments of Reality. Berlin – Tricity" presents works by contemporary female artists connected to both the Tricity of Gdańsk-Sopot-Gdynia and Berlin. Their works address the fragments of a broken reality and depict its decay, and make us aware that our reality – whether in Poland or Germany – is fragmented, uncomfortable, unpredictable, and marked by aggression, often directed at women. However, the exhibition "Scherben der Realität. Berlin – Dreistadt" does not merely diagnose this state of the world; it also showcases the lived experiences of those affected. It expresses solidarity and calls for action by empathetically focusing on those who often remain invisible.

Our identity and our lives are shaped by experiences, by what we have lived through, and by the memories of those moments. These memories, whether triggered by smells, sounds, objects, photos, or images, suddenly overwhelm us, reminding us of people and events, and the emotions associated with them. What influence do they have on our present and our future path? And are we always ready to remember and engage with the past?

The artists Ursula Antesberger, Barbara Duisberg, Nathalie Giraud, and Katrin Hosterbach, members of the Atelierhausgenossenschaft Berlin Charlottenburg, Stieffring (AHGB), have explored different aspects of this theme through their artistic work.

The exhibition Crossing the Same Circumstances brings together eight Romanian contemporary artists whose complementary or overlapping approaches offer a glimpse into the becoming of photographic art, such as it is practiced in Romania from the ’70s and up to the present day.
