In the first solo exhibition of 2025, Under The Mango Tree is pleased to present “Chants de Couleur” by the artist Adeline Meilliez (*1981). Born in France and based in Berlin since 2010, Adeline primarily works with the silkscreen printing technique – a medium that gained significant attention in Western art history, especially during the Pop Art movement. While reproducibility was central to the Pop Art era, Adeline focuses exclusively on unique pieces in this exhibition.

Profil

Under The Mango Tree wurde 2011 gegründet und ist fest in Berlin-Schöneberg verwurzelt, wo zeitgenössische, lokale Hybridperspektiven und südasiatische Künstler ihren Platz finden. Die Vision der Galerie ist die Überzeugung, dass die Künstler zwar geographisch irgendwo verortet sein mögen, ihr Ausdruck jedoch nicht. Natürlich beeinflusst von ihrer vertrauten Umgebung, ihrem Wunsch zu kommunizieren, Kontakte zu knüpfen und die Erwartungen an den Ort zu übertreffen, verhandeln diese Künstler ihre Identität in einer globalisierten Welt neu. Ihre Arbeiten durchqueren die vereinfachte Unterteilung von Geographie, Religion, Kultur oder Rasse durch unterschiedliche mediale Ausdrucksformen und konzentrieren sich hauptsächlich auf Malerei, Fotografie, Textilien und Zeichnung, wobei sie zwischen Figurativem und Abstraktem navigieren.

08.09.2024 – 21.11.2024 Poetics of Relation. A Retrospective of 13 years. Malerei, Arbeiten auf/mit Papier, Aquarell, Radierung, Textilkunst, Fotografie.

Our current show, “Poetics of Relation” celebrates every artist’s individuality in relation to each other. Exhibited are almost 100 works by 23 artists focusing on Painting, Textiles and Photography. 

Inspired by Martinique-born cultural theorist and poet, Édouard Glissant´s (1928–2011) publication “Poetics of Relation” (1990), the show seeks to guide the audience to move beyond traditional notions of identity as fixed and singular. A central idea for the gallery in the past and future.
