The group show 675 KM presents ten young artistic positions featuring works from the class of Prof. Valérie Favre (University of the Arts Berlin) and from the class of Prof. Tatjana Doll (State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe). This time, the exhibition will open at both locations of galerie burster – in Berlin and in Karlsruhe.

There are 675 kilometers between the main building of the University of the Arts in Berlin and the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe. In this upcoming exhibition, the artworks and the participating artists will bridge this distance, creating a connection between two significant sites of creative expression.

In a variety of formats, both large and small, and employing oil, acrylic, and watercolor, Nouri Almashhour, Linus Beckmann, Matthias Gmeiner, Hyejin Ha, Ivana Heckmanns, Josephine Rothäuser, Clara Vivian Stang, Mara Olschowka, Wei Xia, and Svenja Zewe illustrate, through their diverse artistic approaches, the ongoing emergence of visual-aesthetic and thematic connections in art—even across a geographical distance of 675 kilometers.

Mateo Contreras Gallego uses photography, videos and installations as media for his artistic work. He is fascinated by the exploration of visual as well as narrative motifs of absence. He encounters phenomena such as farewell, abandonment and death in his everyday experiences and those of his Colombian relatives with their religious and mystical beliefs. In his works, scenes emerge in which space and light form a relationship of tension and reveal a longing. Contreras Gallego is from Bogotá, Colombia, and graduated in 2022 with a master's degree in fine arts from the UdK Berlin in Ursula Neugebauer's class. He is currently a guest lecturer at the Institute for Art in Context at the UdK Berlin.

Three galleries and nine artists

With OOO [Out of Office], Galerie Judith Andreae (Bonn), galerie burster (Berlin) and Evelyn Drewes Galerie (Hamburg) will present a jointly realised exhibition concept for the first time during Gallery Weekend Berlin from 26 April – 1 May 2022. In the vibrant gallery district of Berlin-Mitte, the group show will feature painting, installation, sculpture, video and NFT. Temorary location: Charlottenstrasse 2, 10969 Berlin

We are thrilled to announce the second edition of SHOT# – a series of short exhibitions that provide a platform for experimental formats. 

In the beginning, there is a large shelf. Inside: strange things, mixtures of different substances and forms, everyday things, raw material, artificial or natural, solid or liquid, dead or alive. Maria Braune, Erik Esso, Tim Freiwald, Schirin Kretschmann, Florian Kuhn and Manuel Strauß have gathered them together.

We are pleased to present NEW NEIGHBOURS, the first exhibition in our new gallery space at Ludwigkirchstraße 11, 10719 Berlin-Wilmersdorf.

New Neighbours brings together seven artists, some of them part of our gallery program like Christian August, Bram Bram, Marta Djourina, Gary Schlingheider and Maria Schumacher, but also new positions like Jessica Buhlmann and Manuel Stehli.
