04.05. – 15.06. Weltenwechsler. Klaus Hack. Print, Work on Paper, Sculpture. Repro Jeanne d'Arc, Klaus Hack, 2022, Pappel, Eiche, Buche weiß gefasst, 141 x 112 x 40 cm, Photo: ©Florian Selig, Berlin

Spatial shapes ranging from the architectural to the archaic. Hack's works are created from a wooden trunk, which provides the direction for the upward verticality. This is always based on the idea of the stele. Thus, his figures - sitting, standing, moving on stilts or raised on pedestals - are figures of verticality. The architectural elements as well as the interpretations and motifs of the human body are designs in space: three-dimensional, spatial, corporeal.

Upcoming

22.06. – 27.07. Embodied Vessels - Zwischen Körper und Gefäß. Fünf Positionen zeitgenössischer Künstler zum Thema Körper und Gefäß. Andreas Amrhein, Wilhelm Frederking, Diane Haefner, Daniel Kruger, Roland Stratmann. Painting, Work on Paper, Drawing, Sculpture. Repro M9, a. d. Serie: Fayencen, Roland Stratmann, 2023, Diptychon mit je 3 Ansichtskarten, 17 x 23 cm, Photo: Roland Stratmann

Five artists explore the theme of body and vessel in different ways. They explore the world of objects and place them in relation to their own bodies, linking them with fragmented bodies, historical figures or current pictorial inventions. This leads to unusual juxtapositions and references. In the exhibition, superimpositions of contemporary history, hybrid creatures and symbiotic connections form an exciting combination of visual and haptic impressions.

09.03. – 27.04. tierisch.. starke Kunstwerke. Christiane Erdmann, Pierre Fischer, Michael Lauterjung, Florian Pelka, Silke Rehberg, Hans Scheib, Roland Stratmann, Sigrid Nienstedt. Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, Installation. Repro Revisited/Fable de Fabian, Pierre Fischer, 2021, Öl auf Leinwand, 200 x 180 cm, Photo: Pierre Fischer

The focus is on the characteristics, symbolic content and life cycle of an animal in relation to humans. The animals appear individually, in company and in groups. Looking at them, the viewer feels the smooth movement of the predator or listens to the dynamics of a school of fish. Multifaceted in terms of material, technique and motif, the exhibition "animalistic" also questions man's sense of responsibility towards the animal world and the environment as a whole.

25.11.2023 – 13.01. Landschaft - ein weites Feld. Gruppenausstellung. Susanne Knaack, Johannes Schramm, Helge & Saxana, Carola Schapals, u.a. Painting. Repro Ohne Titel, Susanne Knaack, 2018, Öl auf Leinwand, 50 x 40 cm, Photo: Michael W. Schmalfuß

The exhibition "landscape" includes various approaches to the motif "nature". Every artist finds his own individual approach and approaches the topic "nature/architecture" in his own way. The urbanity of the cities is embedded in a wild landscape, sealed off from the rest of the world, the boundaries between artificial and natural are blurred. Image, fiction and abstraction skilfully flow into each other.

Elvira Bach became internationally known through the uniqueness of her expressive images of women. An invitation to the documenta in 1982 was her artistic breakthrough. Strong women are her major theme, which she repeatedly captures on canvas in exuberant colors and joie de vivre in large formats. They are women who, like themselves, go their own way with self-confidence, sometimes very provocatively. Their shape and color aesthetics were inspired by numerous trips to Africa.
