Elisabeth Bukenberger (b. 1998) is a German figurative artist. She recently completed her studies at the Royal College of Art, London and is now based in Berlin. Her process-led practice, serving as a method to release judgement and lean into an intuitive mode of inquiry, spans painting, drawing, print-making, sculpture and photography.

“Perception is Reality” focuses on our unique perspective on the world and how it shapes our reality. The exhibition explores how various factors—such as social norms, beauty ideals, social media, and past experiences—influence this perception. It poses the bold question of whether reality can ever be objective and whether our perceived reality is ever truly our own.

Fragments: Drawing on readings from Susan Sontag and Elaine Scarry on women, beauty and justice, her current work explores the female gaze and experience, specifi cally focusing on self-portraiture. Using the mirror as a source and symbol for identity and reflection, Elisabeth interweaves the exploration of three-dimen sionality with a visceral reflection on the psychological and physical realities of womanhood..

Now working as a freelance artist, he draws on both professional fields, combining form and language: he models organic objects from stoneware or paper and pairs them with evocative words, which he prints on the plinths as titles and subtitles. He has some of his works cast in bronze. These, too, are enriched by the breadth of language. The result is profound, one-of-a-kind pieces whose intellectual dimensions are determined by the viewers themselves: they are invited to discover ethereal spaces – in dialogue with the object, the meaning suggested by the artist, and their own imaginations. The grace of his works entices the viewer to look, the curves tempt them to touch, and the words allow the mind to wander.
