The exhibition as time goes by brings together examples of work from five decades of artistic creation.

On display are works by Jutta Barth, Burghild Eichheim, Hans-Jürgen Gabriel, Marilyn Green, Regina Roskoden, Robert Schmidt-Matt, and Hans Stein.

The exhibition offers a multifaceted view of individual artistic developments amid the tensions of changing aesthetic, social, and media conditions. The artists have deliberately selected works from their oeuvres that mark central stages, breaks, and continuities in their creative processes.

The dialogue between the works reveals how different artistic positions respond to time: how formal strategies change, themes are continued or transformed, and personal styles assert themselves or reform over decades. The exhibition sees itself as a concentrated search for traces of artistic developments.

as time goes by invites us to read time not only as chronology, but as an artistic space of experience in which memory, present, and projection are inextricably interwoven.

With the exhibition “The Devil – Eternal Enemy and Friend,” the Association of Berlin Artists dedicates itself to one of the oldest and at the same time most ambivalent motifs in the history of art and culture. The Devil—Satan—has for centuries served as a projection surface for fear, temptation, moral transgression, and existential questions. Yet beyond his role as the metaphysical adversary of God, might this figure also be conceived as a mirror, a companion, or even a “friend” of humankind?

The exhibition opens up a multifaceted discourse on evil as a cultural, social, and personal reality of our time.

Through painting, sculpture, object art, photography, and video, the participating artists approach the theme from a wide range of contemporary perspectives. The Devil appears less as a concrete figure than as an invisible yet powerful presence shaping our present.

Art leaves traces – fine lines, expansive surfaces, visible and invisible impressions. It accompanies small and large ruptures, from personal experiences to social and political upheavals. In this field of tension, lines become signs, surfaces become spaces of resonance. The works shown absorb experiences, transforming them and making them tangible in new ways – as memories, as contradictions, as opportunities for new perspectives.

The 2025 art award for visual arts donated by the A and A Cultural Foundation will be awarded in cooperation with the Verein Berliner Künstler (Berlin Artists' Association). Independent expert jurors selected ten nominees from numerous applications. The exhibition honours the artistic positions of the VBK artists and presents them to a broad audience. From this circle the winning artwork will be presented in detail at the award ceremony.

This exhibition project is a lively interplay of the arts: painting, action painting, drawing, sculpture, video, dance, live performance, photography, and augmented reality all form interfaces of artistic expression.

This comprehensive programme by 35 international artists offers a time-based, visual, and medial art experience. Transitions, transformations, and changes in perspective are a fundamental part of this exhibition—leading to a new fusion of live acts and passive observation.

In this exhibition six new members to the VBK (Verein Berliner Künstler) present their positions together for the first time. Bernadette Arnaud, Axel Bunt, Ulrike Damm, Saskia Glückauf, Mi Ran Kim and anna.laclaque approach the chosen topic Frontiers individually; as a physical terrain, as a mental barrier, as poetical transendence or as an aesthetic game-play.

Battles between nations, religiously motivated conflicts, family dramas, conflicts of identity – more than ever we are struggling internally among ourselves and externally among others. In all facets of society there is tension: be it political, societal, religious or psychological. Even strenuously wrought human rights are questioned, gender issues polarise. Faith becomes a limitation. Humanity’s dream of peace, freedom and prosperity is very much alive but also very fragile. In this exhibition hope meets reality.

The exhibition ZART / CZUŁY is dedicated to themes such as peace, touchability, empathy and tolerance. The title refers to a gentle, mindful action that stands in contrast to the brutal and violent events in the world. Art is understood here as pre-verbal and has the power to awaken physical, mental and emotional sensations. In this sense, ZART / CZUŁY contributes to the positive development of our society.

The central theme of the exhibition is the silence of the war generation after WWII and the search their ancestors made to find their traces. On display are works by ten artists who look at the Shoah and National Socialism, Stalinism and colonialism, and try to relate these historical events to today's conflicts from very different perspectives.

In this year's association exhibition UPDATE, the members of the VBK present their current freely selected positions without thematic specifications. In the exhibition The NEW YOU-WE-ME, the Verein Berliner Künstler presents 16 artistic positions in the context of the European Month of Photography Berlin (EMOP).

In this context, current positions in photography are shown in more than 100 exhibitions throughout Berlin. The means of expression of photography are used to examine the private and public aspects of humanity in current events, thus inviting a dialogue.

Solo exhibition dedicated to Achim Freyer's 90th birthday.

Most of the latest works presented in this exhibition were created in Italy and bear witness to the great creative power of the 90-year-old artist Achim Freyer.
His visual language evokes the viewer to associate images of freedom, expanse, transparency of the individual works and make a connection between them.

Boundaries are drawn, crossed, torn down. They lock us out - or lock us in. Twelve artists tackle the subject of borders in the exhibition “BORDERLINES”, which will be on display at the Galerie Verein Berliner Künstler from July 27 to August 11. Through photography, painting and installations, their artistic positions pose political, environmental and climate-related but also very personal questions. “BORDERLINES” will open on July 26 at 7 pm at Schöneberger Ufer 57.

In our fast-moving times, loud sounds and intense images are foregrounded. With the SUBTIL exhibition we want to give space to the quiet, subtle statements by reflecting the various artistic means and materials used to highlight the unhightlightable.

Ten members and four guest artists present their current positions and techniques in the traditional rubric of printing in the digital age.

80 artists from the VBK are showing their current positions. In this exhibition a conscious decision has been made not to curate under a specific theme. Rather, the jointly organized exhibition is intended to present a broad range of artistic expression and bring together the diverse positions of the members of the VBK.

The award ceremony took place on March 15, sponsored by the Lions Club Berlin-Alexanderplatz and organized by the Berlin Artists' Association. The winners of the award - presented for the first time this year - are Anja Eichler, Christoph Damm and Sylvia Seelmann. All the nominees' works can be seen at the Verein Berliner Künstler gallery until April 7.

The feeling of time is perceived very individually. Although we all live in the same time, everyone experiences it 
in their own way. The sense of time can be short-lived or give us the feeling of being on an endless journey through 
space and time - travelling through time. We may either lose touch with reality or see it much more clearly. This
exhibition tries to make this expierence tangable - to make the warp visible.

The five artists offer different ways of dealing with levity in their works on the subject. Through their play with materiality, structure and representation, their positions create a multifaceted presence that develops an unexpected dynamic in relation to the other exhibts on display.

The gallery VEREIN BERLINER KÜNSTLER presents its winter exhibition "The Lyrical Aspect" from the 2nd to 31st December 2023. 

In this exhibition, 80 artists from the VBK will show a wide range of positions from painting, photography, object art, video art, drawing, graphics and sculpture. 

The gallery is closed for Chrismas Eve.

The opening exhibition IN PROCESS will present current artistic thoughts on the subject of ecological, technical and economic changes and challenges. A year-long project on the topic of the Anthropocene is planned, accompanied by scientific discussions, which is expected to conclude in the coming autumn of 2024 with a panel discussion and an in-depth exhibition documentation.

Irritation - a maximum aesthetic confusion is the 3rd part of the joint multimedia exhibition by artists living in Switzerland and Berlin with the generic term "irritation". Irritation is understood as a concept of rediscovery through uncertainty, confusion, agitation and propagated by this exhibition. In cooperation with VEBIKUS Kunsthalle Schaffhausen and FATart Schaffhausen now on view at Galerie VBK.

The exhibition is mainly about the city, reflecting humanity's tendency to concentrate in cities. In 2050, 70% of people will live in cities. The subject of architecture - future and present - is dealt with in a variety of positions and media.

Nowhere is forgetting more passionate than in Berlin. As in ancient Troy, nine urban epochs lie beneath today's Berlin, the world`s capital of forgetting. The violent excesses of the last century destroyed many things, not just people and buildings. From the sparse remains in the archives, the task is to form a memory that fills some of the gaps - mostly only on paper or digitally. In special cases, however, the memory must be spatialised in order to regain cultural memory.

From 12/08/23 to 03/09/23 16 Artists of the VBK present their reflections on personal loss, communal or social demise and global extinction. No matter on what scale, every loss of a life component begets an answer to its disappearance. With this motto in mind, the artists investigate unusual ways to approach the subject.

In this exhibition objects are presented in a new way. Bodies we think we know are dismantled and reassembled. Figures oscillate from hardness to softness, and images that irritate us at first become cues for a new way of percieving the world.

Ila Wingen, Katrin Salentin, Michael Koch and Jochen Schlick share visual abstraction as a common basis. Their current works deal with transformation in form, time and space. As part of the exhibition, a joint edition will be presented as a NFT.

Update is the society's annual exhibition where its members can present their current positions without any guidlines or restrictions. Its motto is to express diversity and artistic liberty through many forms and techniques.

We live in the age of the Anthropocene, in which the natural foundations of life are almost without exception humanly over formed, and increasingly destroyed. We are slowly gaining an awareness that our actions and inactions will determine how long we can continue to live on this planet. A new form of thinking is urgently needed. This exhibition is dedicated to what extent openness and holism of an artistically formed thinking can overcome our tendency to create more and more of the same.

From February 25, 2023 to March 19, 20 artists present traditional printing techniques such as letterpress, intaglio, planographic, through-printing and their mixed forms in contemporary expression at the gallery VEREIN BERLINER KÜNSTLER. Small editions will be printed as unique pieces for the exhibition.

As part of the exhibition, there will be workshops and various guided tours, which we would like to invite you to participate in.

In this year's winter exhibition, artists will deal with life and the social consequences of "Bad News". There will be artistic works on display, in which both small joys of everyday life, ironic, satirical, as well as reactions to "bad news", "fake news" and the like are emotionally expressed. The association's in-house exhibition is a format to which the artists can exhibt current work, or present previous works on the topic.

The exhibition "Von Clowns und anderen Schweinehunden - Bilder unserer Selbst" (Of Clowns and Other Asses - Images of Ourselves) offers a holistic experience around the question of who lives inside us and how the current crisis is having an impact on our psyche.

On display are primarily the three dimensional works of five sculptors and/or object artists. For this exhibition larger exhibits will be presented in the garden grounds of the art association. Accompaning them, two dimensional works will be presented in the gallery as the the artists see fit.

When dinosaurs meet aliens and bags of garbage, it can only be about one topic: climate change. The phenomenon is so complex that it permeates all areas of our lives. And without consistent and decisive countermeasures, all changes head to a critical point - the "tipping point" or Klimakipppunkt in German. In their works, the artists deal with the causes and effects of climate change.

Without a specific theme, UPDATE is a group exhibition in which the artists of the VBK express each year their individual positions in free artistic form. This year's exhibition gathers 79 perspectives, presenting at the same time the versatility of the concept of art and the diverse positions the members of the VBK have to offer.
